President OBAMA: Prevent Genocide at Camp Ashraf

Ashraf countdown to Genocide...  - 61 Days
61 days left !! Have you writen a letter yet??

“We’ve got to do all we can to raise awareness of this so that people will know what is going on – but more importantly, so that the Iraqi Government knows that the world is watching”
Only before Christmas time ( less than 65 days away) more than 3,400 people face eviction from their home of 21 years in what Labour peer and civil liberties champion Lord Robin Corbett has described as ‘a pact with the devil’
Camp Ashraf, 60 miles northeast of Baghdad, is home to 3,400 members of Iran’s principal opposition movement, the Mujahedin-e Khalq (PMOI/MEK). Some 1,000 of the residents are women and one-third are former political prisoners in Iran, who survived the Iranian regime’s reign of terror and found safe haven across the border. Hundreds of university graduates from the United States and Europe joined them in the campaign to establish a secular, democratic, and non-nuclear republic in Iran. In July 2004, the United States recognized the residents of Ashraf as “protected persons” under the Fourth Geneva Convention and signed an agreement with each resident to protect them until their final disposition. In violation of that commitment, the US handed over protection to Iraq in 2009.On April 8, 2011, Iraqi forces, acting at the behest of Tehran, attacked Ashraf, killing 36 and wounding hundreds more. In a similar assault in July 2009, eleven residents were killed.

My name is Shaghayegh, I am 14, at Camp Ashraf
Our City Ashraf has now been turned into a Concentration Camp by Al-Maliki forces.
It’s now more than 2 years we are under siege.

Last night was freezing, but our fuel is cut.
They threaten us 24 hours a day through 300 huge loudspeakers.
My brother said, the mullahs are helping them out.
I saw new huge black boxes next to the speakers. My brother said it’s a communication interceptor and they want to cut us off from the outside world. What does he mean?

    President Obama,
I want to be free like your daughter. I want my friends to have the same chance in Iran. But the Mullahs kill anyone who is with us.
They want us all killed like Srebrenica
Will you save us?!  Is it my fault since I want the same thing my dad and my sister wished for; to be Free? They were both killed; my dad was killed by the mullahs, my sister: by Maliki forces. Will I be killed too?

    Dear US president Obama,
Only you in this world can help us. Otherwise we will all be killed.
Tell Maliki to stop threatening us.

My mum said, Maliki just said they will do everything they like to push us out of our city Ashraf. They will kill us and say that we did not let them into our camp like the last time.

    Mr President, I am scared!

The UN has already started work to grant the refugees status, but this is needs time.

    President Obama
can intervene and impel the Iraqis to lift the illegal deadline

President OBAMA: Prevent Genocide at Camp Ashraf

  3. Timeline of Attack on Ashraf

    Ashraf countdown to Genocide

    • - On April 2, 2001, at midnight, the suppressive Iraqi forces entered Camp Ashraf with at-least 30 armored vehicles, including Humvees and BMP-1 armored personnel carriers. They took positions in northern part of the camp. Based on specific information obtained from inside the Iranian regime, the Iranian Resistance declared that Nouri al-Maliki plans for a new round of killings in Camp Ashraf on the demands from Ali Khamenei, Iranian regime’s Supreme Leader.
    •  Several days prior to the assault on Ashraf, in numerous letters to American and European officials and the United Nations, as well as press releases, Ashraf residents and the National Council of Resistance of Iran warned about an imminent massacre of the camp residents. Unfortunately, none of them paid any attention to the threat.
    •  On Wednesday, April 6, 2011, 36 hours prior to the catastrophe, as the representatives of UNAMI entered Ashraf, the residents once again warned them that an attack on the residents is close, but again there was no action taken.  Ashraf residents urged them to strengthen their presence in the camp.
    •  On Thursday 7 April, after the U.S. Defense Secretary Gates met with Nouri al-Maliki, while it was expected that U.S. forces reinforce their positions in Ashraf, surprisingly the limited U.S. forces that had a presence in the camp since April 3, left the camp in the afternoon of 7 April, 2011.
    •  Immediately after al-Maliki’s meeting with U.S. Defense Secretary, some 1500 suppressive Iraqi forces entered Camp Ashraf between noon to late night on Thursday, raising the number of total forces to 2,500. By Iraqi standards, the speed for such deployment is remarkable.
    •  On the same day, in several letters to President Obama, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and United Nations’ Secretary General,Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran warned about the imminent crime to be carried out in Camp Ashraf. But did not have any results.
    •  At 4:45 am (local time) of 8 April, 2011, eight battalions of Iraqi Army’s Ninth and Fifth Divisions began the attack on the defenseless resident. The massive firings using armored vehicles’ heavy machineguns and snipers continued for six hours in various parts of Camp Ashraf. In short period, a number of residents were killed. The Iraqi forces have occupied more than one third of Camp Ashraf.  Eyewitnesses have reported the presence of a number of Farsi speaking individuals among the attackers.
    •  On April 8, in the afternoon, the total number of Ashraf residents killed during the attack reached 33. Ten of them had died from the critical injuries they had received during the attack.
    •  Over 300 residents are injured with a number of them in very critical condition. Since the early hours on Friday, the Iranian Resistance repeatedly called on U.S. to evacuate the wounded. But until the midnight on Friday no actions had been taken in this regard and more lives are at risk.
    •  At present, the attacking forces are still in Camp Ashraf and the possibility of another attack and killing of residents looms. Some 1,500 of the suppressive forces are stationed inside the camp while some 1,000 are outside the camp.  Some fifty armored vehicles are inside the camp and equal number is outside.
    •  Based on the instructions by their commands, the Iraqi forces loot properties and assets of the Ashraf residents while destroying anything that they are unable to takeaway.
    •  The Iraqi forces have prevented the UNAMI monitoring team entry to the camp. Mr. Tahar Boumedra, the assistant on Camp Ashraf issues to Mr. Ad Melkert, the Special Reprehensive of the United Nations’ Secretary General in Iraq, has been trying to enter the Camp since Thursday morning but he is denied entry by the Iraqi forces.

    •  A number of journalists have gone to Ashraf, but the Iraqi forces have prevented them from entering Ashraf.
    •  At least 178 residents have gunshot wounds and are in serious conditions; 28 are in critical condition and were transferred to a hospital in Baquba; 18 residents, who have been wounded, remain in Iraqi custody.
    •  The Iranian regime praised the Iraqi officials for launching a deadly raid on Camp Ashraf. Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi told a Tehran press conference Saturday the Iraqi army was right to storm Camp Ashraf. And the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps urged Iraqi to finish the job and destroy Camp Ashraf altogether, “otherwise the attack would backfire on Iraq.”
    •  Despite appeals by the residents, the United States military has refused to transfer any of the wounded to the US Army hospital in Balad.
    •  Urgent demands:
    1. As a strong possibility for another attack and bloodbath looms and the suppressive forces continue to be present in the camp, it is of utmost urgency that American Forces, who were present in the camp hours before the catastrophe, return to Camp Ashraf to prevent another attack on the residents
    2. A UNAMI monitoring team to be permanently stationed in Camp Ashraf.
    3. A number of those injured are in critical condition. Their evacuation to the American Army hospital in the nearby town of Balad must be undertaken immediately.

  5. ACT NOW: Ask President Obama to intervene NOW!

    Tom Ridge, former former governor of Pennsylvania and first  US Secretary of Homeland Security Homeland Security;

“Mr. President, it's time to act.  Give Camp Ashraf residents  the protection we promised, and do it now.  Time is running out.
If we do not act, there will probably be a massacre of 3,400 unarmed civilians inconsistent with this country's value systems, inconsistent with the promise we made, and inconsistent for the purpose that we sent our brave men and women over to Iran.
“As both the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and as first Secretary, not on one occasion did I ever see a threat directed to the United States from the people of Camp Ashraf
“Remember also this:  In 2004, our FBI and our Department of Justice went and interrogated every man and woman at Camp Ashraf.  And remember this:  They concluded unequivocally without hesitation none of those individuals had been involved in a terrorist act
“Mr. President, the facts are clear.  The obligation is clear.  The consequences of  failure tomact are clear.  Delist the MEK.  Make sure them Security Council puts some blue hats on and gets into that Camp Ashraf to protect them, and extend the deadline before they close Camp Ashraf.  If not, the consequences are unspeakable, and we as a country would be appropriately held accountable for those unspeakable consequences.  Delist the MEK.”
    URGENT NEWS:

Following the announcement of US forces’ withdrawal from Iraq, the Iranian regime’s Foreign Ministry announced, “In order to determine on the PMOI members, with the agreement of the Iraqi government and Red Cross arrangements were made for a trilateral committee to be established in Iraq … This trilateral committee has been established, but unfortunately the Red Cross did not attend it despite its previous commitment… The Iraqi government has prepared a 10-point draft for the expulsion of the PMOI from Ashraf and the closure of this camp. With observations from the Iranian party, this 10-point agreement evolved finally to a 7-point draft and this issue is now on the agenda for final signatures…”

    TAKE ACTION!

We are extremely concerned over the recent news in Iranian State media that point to the fact that the Mullahs have taken advantage of the vacuum, left as the result of the US troop pullout,  to massacre Camp Ashraf residents according to a carefully coordinated plan with Al-Maliki, who is responsible for the last blooded attack on the Camp which left 36 crushed to death and 1000 injured.
As emphasized by Ruth Wedgewoodm Chair, International LawLaw and DiplomacymJohn HopkinsUniversity: “When Maliki says deadline, he means death.”

TAKE ACTION to prevent a HUMANITARIAN CATASTOPHE
The people of Camp Ashraf need our help, don't let the a greater genocidal happen at Camp Ashraf:
Camp Ashraf is home to 3,400 members of the Iranian opposition group, the People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). They are “protected persons” under the Geneva Convention and the USA is legally and morally responsible for their safety and security. Please ask President Obama to take immediate action in terms of supporting the Ashraf people.
    What is needed is :
    -       To impel the Iraqi MP-Maliki to Withdraw his ultimatum in order  to give  the UNHCR ample time to review the refugee status of the defense less residents, as it has started to do.
    -       Provide help to the UN in its mandate to establish UNAMI monitoring team, which is to resolve the humanitarian crisis in the camp.
